About Patiala Health Foundation

Our History

Patiala Health Foundation was initially discussed in an alumni meeting in 2002 taken place in New York City. Dr. Swarn Gupta, Dr. Harish Sood, Dr. Ravinder Sing and Dr. Birjinder Singh Kochner wanted to create a health care organization. This inspired the concept and creation of the Patiala Health Foundation. In 2005, Dr. Amrik Chattha and Dr. Jaswinder Chattha registered the organization in West Virginia. Weirton, West Virginia was the main head quarter run by Dr. Birjinder Singh Kochher and Monarama Kochher as the treasurer. This was the start of the great movment.

Our Misson

Fundraising campaigns started door to door from city to city. Many doctors throughout the United States participated in the campaign. This includes Dr. Amrik S. Chattha, Dr. Jaswinder Chattha, Dr. Harish Sood, Dr. Jagwinder S. Sraow, Dr. Gurinder S. Grewal, Dr. Ranbir Singh, Dr. Damanjit Yakhmi, Urmila Bassi and Singh Grewal. After several years and rejections, the government of India approved the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) for the organization. Once they received approval, they were able to start achieving their goal of upgrading medical facilities (including Rajindra Hospital) and providing free medications to those in need.
